Building a home can be a very stressful experience even under the best of circumstances, now if the home is being built ~ 600 miles from your present home, you are courting disaster, or at least that's what the books on home building told us. So we approached the idea of building a home in Silver Reef, Utah while living in Morgan Hill, California with a fair amount of trepidation. Bill worked closely with us from the very beginning to design a home that met our personal needs and that was esthetically pleasing and blended with the natural beauty of Silver Reef. Once the final design was established to our satisfaction, Bill began the construction and quickly demonstrated the same attention to detail that impressed us during the design stage. He sent us weekly reports on his progress as well as periodic video tapes to show the home at various stages of construction. During our occasional visits to the home site, it was clear that Bill was giving the construction of our home a level of personal attention beyond what we could have expected from any of the larger construction companies..

After going to another architect in the St. George area and waiting 6 months for plans to be drawn and not receiving any type of plans, we decided to look for another architect. We found Bill Lobato and talked to him about plans for our new home. Lobato called us within 1 week with plans that were beautiful for our spacious 5,000 square foot home. We found our “Lobato” house when it was two-thirds built. It appeared to us that Bill had set an objective to build a distinctive, yet functional, small house of 1920 square feet. He succeeded. It is perfect for our family of two. It soon became apparent that Bill is a man of integrity. After we moved in, Bill maintained contact with us and was on the spot with his sub-contractors to remedy the inevitable small glitches that appeared. We’ve been in the house two years now and we talk daily about how happy we are with the house. We appreciate how he sited the house on the lot, made use of windows, angles, quality components and floor plan to produce a house that has entertained twenty people in a family reunion, while being cozy for the two of us. We’ve had five homes built over a period of 25 years. After working with five different builders in different parts of the US, I had no respect for any of them by the time the houses closed. Building was such a stressful experience. However, my prayers for a stress-free builder were answered when I met Bill Lobato in St. George. We had a piece of land on which we needed a home built. Bill took on the project. He designed the plans, built the home, and sold it for us before it was completed. Then, we contracted with him to build our current residence on a lot overlooking the downtown area, with views of Ivins and Pine Valley Mountain. It was a complicated building location, but with immense potential. Bill modified some plans and during the rains and floods of 2005 trudged through the mud and brought to fruition a wonderfully beautiful and practical home. Bill was honest, hard working, and thoughtful. He made modifications in the design that resulted in a home with flow and incredibly gorgeous views. He answered his cell phone at all hours. He came when we needed him. He fixed things quickly. Then after all was said and done, after the structure was up and occupied, he remained a friend, looking after us and the building to make sure everything worked and was satisfactory. Thanks, Bill, for a great building experience with the least stress we’ve ever had. This is the second home Bill has designed and constructed for us, and the experience gets better each time. I have lived in the St. George area since 1984 and have seen a number of homes built by Bill over the last 20 years. I was always so impressed by the design and quality of those various homes that I long ago decided that if I ever built a custom home I would definitely choose Bill to both design and oversee its construction. That plan finally came to pass two and a half years ago when I purchased a lot in Kayenta and enlisted Bill’s services. I must say that Bill more than lived up to my expectations. He very promptly came up with an initial home plan that perfectly suited the lot and just amazed me in its creativity and uniqueness. As I told bill, I wasn’t really sure of what I wanted, but after seeing the drawing, I couldn’t have been more pleased. We made only a couple of minor alterations from that original plan, and the finished house was truly beautiful. I LOVE my house that Bill built and will always feel indebted to him. He was on site every day, closely supervising the subs and holding them to his own very high standard of workmanship. Bill made the whole process very enjoyable, and as he promised at the outset, there were never any surprises in terms of deviation from his original bid. I think the world of Bill. He is both an outstanding designer and general contractor who truly cares about his customers and their satisfaction, and he takes tremendous pride in his work. He has my highest praise and recommendation.

We have experienced the home building process from start to finish three times. After the first two experiences, we were very hesitant to commence a building project when we lived in Minnesota almost 1400 miles away. We had already survived the trials and decisions that occur daily while construction is in progress. Bill Lobato made this experience an adventure and painless when compared to the other houses. We interviewed several area builders six months before we expected to start construction and since we were not under time constraints did not feel pressure to complete by a certain date. Bill Lobato of WRL Construction was chosen, because we felt that Bill was honest and forthright in his presentation, dealt with the facts of building in the area, and would be our liaison throughout the project. Bill as an experienced designer and builder, would design the house to our specifications, and manage the construction from start to finish. We had purchased a lot in an area with very strict building covenants which required extra time on Bill’s part during the design as well as the approvals and construction. This required him to meet with the area’s architectural control committee several times during the construction, and we received reports on all interactions and required changes. The design was completed and approved by us through the use of the telephone and internet to communicate changes, and hard copy as needed was delivered by UPS or priority mail. When the design was completed and approved by all involved, the excavation was started. There were no unexpected delays during the construction and we inspected the site just before the dry wall was placed on the walls. Looking forward to the weekly internet construction updates and pictures were exciting as well as viewing the site on video tape once a month. Bill provided a comfort level for us during the construction that was professional and caring. He has an innate talent to look at a design and provide for nooks, shelves and work with the eyes of the beholder. We felt that the personal attention bill provided to the design and layout made for a beautiful home in a gorgeous area. We would recommend WRL Construction to anyone wanting to build a home, from the first timer to those that have built before. If we were to build again in the area, Bill’s talent in design and building expertise would be first on our list. We would not hesitate to recommend him as a designer/builder to anyone.
